Gifts for July Occassions
60
July is a busy month. There are birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and many other events. What do you give as a gift for them? There is so much to choose from. What to get!?
Make the gifts personal. Give a gift that means something special. It is the month of July so have the gift reflect this very special and wonderful month.
Start by learning something about July. It is the seventh month of the year and is named after Julius Caesar. In America it is the month to celebrate Independence. It is represented by the ruby, carnelian, and the larkspur. It is the month for grilling out and picnics. A month full of fun and sun.
The Precious Ruby
The flash of a brilliant ruby is hard to ignore. Its beauty has mesmerized cultures throughout the ages. It has represented the passion of lovers and the fire of love.
Did you know that next to the diamond, the ruby is one if the hardest minerals? That along with its brilliant color has made them gem one of the most sought after. At one time, it was prized above all gems by royalty.
Its coloring which can darken was once considered a protector against evil. The color was to darken was danger was close. Those born in July were considered blessed and specially protected when they wore their birthstone. It was also thought to be able to counteract the effects of poison.
What kind of gifts are great for July? Jewelry, of course. You can never go wrong with a piece of jewelry sparkling with rubies. Does someone have a special birthday in July? Give her a ruby necklace. Want to celebrate the birth of a child? Give rubies. You cannot go wrong with a gift of rubies.
Choose from necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more. Even look for ruby hair-pieces or ruby colored accessories.
The Carnelian
July not only has the ruby attributed to it, but it is blessed with a second stone. The carnelian is another stone that July can claim as it own.
Though not considered as valuable as the ruby and other gems, the carnelian has been used for centuries in jewelry and to decorate temples and other buildings. It has been regarded as a sign of passion which goes perfectly with the ruby. It has been rumored to have healing powers and to protect the wearer against evil powers. Anyone who can claim July as special has got some serious power on their side.
This is another great gift idea for an occasion in July. It does not have to be a birthday. Celebrate a promotion at work, the acceptance to a special college, or meeting a weight loss goal. The carnelian is not expensive and can fit any budget as a gift. It can be found in necklaces, bracelets, and rings. If you cannot find the exact gift you want, buy some loose carnelian and make your own. It is so easy.
The Lovely Larkspur
What can you get someone who has a special day in July? Give the gift of the larkspur.
Ancient Greek legend has the larkspur growing up from the blood of Ajax where it provides medicinal healing for wounds. One look at the flower and the only way to describe it is with the word "stately". It can grow up to five feet tall and show such an array of color though blue is the most popular. You can find it pink, violet, and white.
It is one of the most beautiful of the wildflowers and has been depicted in art throughout the ages. But its beauty can be dangerous as it tends to be poisonous to livestock.
As a gift, give a bouquet of larkspur mixed in with other lovely wildflowers. If they are a gardener, give them larkspur seeds. If they have a brown thumb, avoid the live plants altogether. Look more to pictures and items for the home that show the beauty of the larkspur. That way the chances of death are greatly diminished.
Picnics and Grilling
This is the month for all those outdoor activities. Do you have a wedding or an anniversary in this month? Buy them a romantic picnic basket. This is such a unique gift that they will think of you years later as they celebrate anniversary after anniversary. Throw in a comfortable blanket and maybe a bottle of wine. It will be a gift that is always enjoyed.
Your husband have a special day this month? What better gift than a grill or grilling utensils? He will love you for them as he gets the chance to play with fire and provide food for his family. (A fire extinguisher might not be a bad accompaniment with this gift.)
Picnic baskets, grills, cookbooks, and other summer items make great gifts for the wedding, anniversary, birthday, housewarming, promotion, going away, or other events. What could be better? Except maybe a ruby embellished grill set?

Lovely hub. My sister's birthday is in July. She wants carnations, though. Maybe we should add some larkspur to her bouquet.
